Lexi Martin who is attending Texas A & M University,

Justice Cordova who is attending Texas A & M University, Owen Zhang who is attending Princeton or Yale,

Arabella Mansfield who is attending Texas A & M, and Ritsuki Kai who is attending University of Chicago.

Another annual scholarship is in memory of Sherry Senior, who taught Math at Bellaire High School. This year’s recipient of Mrs. Senior’s scholarship is Rebecca Beinart, who plans to attend University of Texas at Austin.

Another scholarship is the Cesar A. Cortes.  The recipient of that is Winnie Chuma who plans on attending Northeastern University.  Lastly, the Bellaire African American Alumni Scholarship was presented to Aryianna Brewer who plans on attending University of Arkansas and Shia Smith who plans on attending University of Houston.

The AFBHS also awarded a Faculty of the Year Award to Allison Underhill who is the Technical Theatre Teacher.

The Outstanding Staff Award is awarded to Marta Flores de Gomez, Head Custodian.  This is Marta 3rd year in a row to receive this honor.  Each of these received a $500 award.

The Alumni and Friends of Bellaire High School (AFBHS) was organized in 1993 to provide annual student scholarships, improvements to the school, and provide faculty and staff awards to support the dedication of their work at BHS. The Alumni and Friends have given over $3,000,000 in scholarships & donations over the years. Funds are raised through our annual alumni event, alumni donations, and sale of Cardinal Courtyard Bricks (which will continue after the school’s renovation).

About Us

The Alumni and Friends of Bellaire High School (AFBHS) is a nonprofit, 501 (c)(3) organization formed in 1993. The organization is composed of non-paid volunteers gathered to help maintain the national standards for which Bellaire High School is known. These volunteers contribute their time, energy and support to the organization.

AFBHS is supported primarily by raising funds from alumni, friends and community businesses. Our goals are to raise money for student scholarships, teacher grants, and school improvements. We strive to provide four (4) $2,500.00 scholarships to graduating seniors each year.

Your support, involvement and contributions enable us to create wonderful opportunities for the school, its students and staff. Please consider a tax deductible donation to AFBHS. Additionally, our annual social events are another avenue to participate in our fundraising efforts. If unable to donate at this time or participate in our events, we are always in need of volunteers to help us achieve our mission.  Your support is always appreciated whether monetary or other.
